Syria: Media Advisor, Buthaina Shaaban, Briefs Ambassadors in China

Aug 18, 2012 - BIEJING, (SANA) - Presidential Political and Media Advisor, Buthaina Shaaban, expressed thanks to the accredited diplomatic representatives of friendly countries over their stances in support of Syria and the rights of the Syrian people.

During her meeting on Friday with the ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats of these friendly countries who are accredited in the Chinese capital of Beijing, Shaaban explained the nature of the crisis Syria is currently undergoing and the ideas she conveyed to the Chinese leadership on the developments of the crisis.

Shaaban briefed the diplomats on the ideas regarding finding a solution to the crisis through halting the violence and adopting political dialogue with the aim to reach solutions that are accepted by the Syrian people and guarantee their sovereignty and the territorial integrity of their homeland.

The Presidential Advisor listened during the meeting to the ambassadors' interpositions and answered their questions which focused mostly on the means to support the Geneva agreement and the six-point plan of the former UN envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan.

The ambassadors stressed their countries' continued support to Syria's government and people in confronting the war waged against them.

The ambassadors and heads of the diplomatic missions of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) and the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) and those of Iran, Belarus, Lebanon, Algeria and Iraq attended the meeting which was held upon the invitation of the Syrian Ambassador to China Imad Mustafa.

Shaaban: China's Principled Stance Protects Countries from Wars' Catastrophe

Earlier, Shaaban underlined that Chain's principled stance, based on the UN charter, and its rejection of any foreign intervention in the countries' internal affairs protect the states from the wars' disasters.

Shaaban was speaking  at a meeting with a number of Chinese researchers and academics interested in the Middle East affairs, presenting an explanation on the current events in Syria.

She briefed the researchers on the continuous efforts Syria exerts in cooperation with the friendly countries to come out of the crisis through a national dialogue that paves the way for a political solution.

The Chinese academics underlined that Syria has the right to combat terrorism and defend its sovereignty, regretting the negative role of some media that instigate violence and the West exploitation of the human rights' mottos.

Shaaban answered questions raised by the researchers, stressing that the Syrian people's support to their government and army will inevitably lead to victory.
